OC Takeover - comments from participants

"The purpose of this event was to educate the modern/contemporary community about Cornell History. The purpose of dividing the O.C. and asking students to say their peace, and take a stand was to make my peers take a stand and make a statement. I wanted them to imagine taking a stand in a similar situation that occurred in 1968 to 2011. If they had to choose, which would they choose? Civil Disobedience, or By Any Means Necessary. Those who chose, By Any Means Necessary, took the stand that they agreed with the actions of the Old Sem Takeovers of 1968. Those who chose, Civil Disobedience, believed that there could have been a different means to an end, through a peaceful protest or more communication with President Stumpf at that time." -- Ariel Harris '13
